The terms, young drivers and cheap car insurance don’t necessarily run in the same circles. There is nothing cheap or inexpensive about paying premiums for teenage drivers. The best you can hope for is to reduce the risk for the insurance company and eventually you will reduce the premium.

In other words if your teenage driver wants to drive a late model sports car, you can expect to pay several thousand dollars every six months. If you want your deductible for collision and comprehensive insurance to be $100, you can expect to pay significantly higher premiums for that coverage. If you choose a much older vehicle without safety features, again the premiums will be higher.

The best car insurance rates for young drivers will be provided using the following criteria. You must choose a safe vehicle that is not a sports car or an SUV. Your young driver must be a good student and be able to document that he or she is a good student.  Your young driver should attend drivers education classes and successfully complete them.

Your teenage driver must understand from day one that the privilege of driving a car can be easily taken away. Whether by state law or by year own edict, driving a car is not something that a teenager should understand as entitlement.
